Simple portrait – photo critique

thank you for your submission. Some of the most effective ways to create a high impact portrait is simplicity. You proved you do not need fancy studio equipment, just a lot of common sense a a love for good photography
I am going to start with the best one. Composition is just about right, beautiful and simple. Also the lines and the general feel and look of the pictures are very nice. The soft light complements the simple beauty of the model. I would probably try to take out the imperfection of the background…or maybe not. Looks like an accident, but it gives a bit of character. Love the choice of jewellery and the dress.
A good portrait as well below, but a bit of colour contrast. I would change the volume of the timber wall or post or whatever that is. Either bring it more in the picture to participate, or take it out completely. The vertical wooden texture impacts on the whole proportions of the picture at I do not believe it complements it the best way. Also the white pants of the model are a little bit outside the general colour character, but not a big issue. I would shift the whole picture down a little bit. It is OK to crop the head if you are doing a portrait detail, with a focus on the eyes for example. Otherwise I would allow the head to have space around it and to breathe better.
Even if the below image follows the rules better than the other two images, I believe the image is too posed. It comes to you as a photographer to engage the model to pose for you, and to try to steal a natural expression. I see a bit of tension….
otherwise, again I would allow just a little bit more space over. The rule of thirds apply for the eyes.
I believe the images above are good portraits and it won’t take much effort from you to make other excellent.
